I'm fortunate enough to have had some great opportunities and had the pleasure of working with some amazing people throughout my career. One of the highlights of this last year has been working with a band called WHITE, you may seen me mention them in previous posts. I've shot a number of promotional images with them. This year they asked me to go to Amsterdam and London to document them both on and off stage. Here is a small selection of images shot over the course of the 5 days.
Equipment and technical notes.
As the band are colourful and their performances vibrant and energetic I wanted to juxtapose their offstage downtime with their onstage performing personas. For this I set out to shoot everything offstage in Black and White with natural light and everything on stage in colour with the stage lights. The natural light approach offstage wasn't giving me the punch I wanted so I used my Nissin i40 flash to give it more grit. I also wanted to have a sense of intimacy with the images so opted to shoot everything at around 28mm bar a few images where a longer focal length was necessary.
