The Conscious Photographer Episode: 05 - Pratik Naik On How To Be An Introvert In An Extroverted Industry & How to Improve Your Retouching And Life
Pratik needs little introduction, however for those of you who aren’t aware of his amazing work I’ll fill you in. Pratik is a world class retoucher and head retoucher at solstice retouch. This was a very special interview for me personally as Pratik creative live course has been hands down the biggest influence and helped to my retouching practice. If you haven’t checked it out, please do at this link
Pratik is also amongst other things a Phase One Ambassador, a Head Writer for Fstoppers and more importantly a master of his craft and nice person. Now you may be thinking, nice person? Why did you bring that up? Here’s why, we are in an industry that is extremely lucrative and can give you more money than you could hope to ask for, with that comes acknowledgment and a following. Pratik, despite his success, has not let any of that get to him and that’s a huge thing. This industry is one that is built on creating images of a dream life to sell to people, and sometimes we can get sucked up into that and think that’s us. I know I have. Whereas Pratik has this grounded warmth to him that is so hard to find.
So after a little fanboying, we got straight into it, and this is probably my favorite interview to date. Pratik has a very grounded approach to retouching despite his accolades. In the interview, we get into a whole host of different things from how Pratik got into the industry to how he views retouching as an art form.
